15 December 2006 | Peru, Lima
Together with a Carlos and Robin (english) I crossed halfway down Peru to arrive in late at night Lima. We´ve consumed 3 busses, in which we spend almost 30 hours and had the most strange border crossing ever. On our location in Ecuador, had to take a taxi back to get our passport stamped, then crossing into Peru walking trough a market we had to take a mototaxi to the immigration of Peru and back to the ´border´to take a taxi to the first town to ta the actual bus!!!
People that don´t speak spanish don´t go there!!!
In Lima we found a hostal reasonable quick for the time of the evening. And Carlos and I shared our last rum for now, before he went into the amazone jungle.
The morning after Robin and I went to Pisco (where the famous Pisco Sour is brewed) to get to the Islas Ballestas (the poor man´s Galapagos Islands) the next day. This was pretty inpressive, with over 1500 sealions, tons of different birds and loads of endangered Humbolt Penguins. The trip to the national park was also inpressive. Large dunes and fast desert tumbled right into the ocean.
NB. for people that didn´t know it (like I) Pewu´s westside consists mostly out of desert!!!
We took a evening bus to Huacachina to do some sand boarding (like snow boarding but then on... you can guess it). I had only suffered a small sun infection in my eyes, which kept me from doing that. All is better now!!!
So with Tino (a dutch guy) I continued to Nasca, to see the amazing Nasca Lines. You can see them by plane or from a tower. Due to financial reconsiderations, we decided to go for the tower. Luckily, because it´s not that impressive at all!!!
Todat we arrived in Cusco by night bus, where we were placed in the business section (wide leather stairs, you can imagion!!!), which was some comfort after I just found out that I was given a false 50 soles ($17) banknote.
I just booked my 5 days hike to the Lost Inka City, Machu Pichu!!!
After this I´ll continue to Lago Titi Caca and then to Cayo´s place in Bolivia!!!
Hasta pronto, beso,
Tito
