The Lost City of the Inka´s

Day 1
At 5 in the morning I met my fellow traveller (Wim, 58 yrs. and also Dutch) with whom I would spend the next 5 days. It was pouring outside and our equiptment was soaked when we started. We had a guide that was actually the cook and the cooking gear and carrier, nor the horse were there. He would fix eveything he ensured us.
It was a tough day (8 hrs. climbing some 1000 mtrs.), adapting to the lack of oxigen and the fierce fisical input. But we enjoyed the landscape, drank water straight from the mountain (didn´t even needed your water filter mom!!!) and had a dinner and a place to sleep at local Andean people.

Day 2
Was the hardest day, we had to climb another 700 mtrs in half a day. It was sooo steap!!! But the panorama´s were out of this world. After the highest point (4600 mts) we went downwards. Which seemed easier (and faster) but was butal on the knees. After another 8 - 9 hours of walking we arrived at the next campsite. We ate at two other families (some were living in worse conditions than the goats Wim has on his farm!!!) where we imagined ourselves in the Bronse Age in Europe (Jor remember the Pre Historical Village in the nature park in Lelystad???).

Day 3
We went further down arriving in more jungle-like surroundings. We had climbed, crawled and jumped most of our way and the 12,5 kg weighting backpack began to demand it´s toll!!! Halfway down the path after a 5 hrs walk we arrived -again in the pouring wet season´s rains- at a little town (three houses and a church) were we waited for a bus to take us to the next town... There we enjoyed the night at a hostal.

Day 4
´The last lead always weights the most´ (an old Dutch expression). After crossing a river in a cable basked and walking across the railway we arrived at Aguas Caliente (the village at the foot of the mountain Machu Picchu). Here we spend the rest of the day relaxing and enjoying the few pleasures of life, such as a natural hot spring bath.

Day 5
Very early we departed for the Lost City of the Inka´s, Machu Picchu. We had the first bus up and arrived in a mysteriously clouded acient village...
It was a magical experience!!!
We joined a guided group and got a lot of information about this special and spiritual people. The guide even told us were the Last Inka´s were living amongst their most valuable treasures, will that be my next travel destination???

Day 6
Although it was a magical trip, the travel agency didn´t quite delived what was promised to us, so unfortunately Wim and I spend the best part of today trying to get a little money back... After 7 hours of talking to different people I succeeded, Wim had already left on the plain. It was a good practise for my spanish, hahaha!!!

Tonight to Lake Titi Caca and the floating islands and then up to a quite Christmas at Cayo´s... yeah right!!!

Chau, beso y naturlamente un Feliz Navidad!!!
