Arriving at the metropolis of KL we found a nice hostel in the middle of China Town.
It is a big city with a couple of million of inhabitants, but the atmosphere was more relaxing than Jakarta, fortunally!!! It clearly reflects the multi cultural society, as we will see it in a few generation all around the world. Many Chinese and indian people living -in what seems- close harmony. The city also lives up to the nickname Cris has given the country Mall-aysia, its very developed to American example.
Ofcourse a must-do (although I normally hate those things, hahaha) was a visit to the Twin Towers, Malaysian landmark and signal for their succes. It is build according to islamic principals of architecture and spacial harmony, but comes more close to a western succes story, together with a 'propagandious' introduction of the founding company, the national Oil Company.
After this interesting visit, we went of the the east coast and up to Kota Bharu, a conservative and very religious city on the border to Thailand. We had a nice cultural day, filled with musea, traditional dances and displays, amongs a show of Sila Silat (the Malaysian version of the originally Indonesian martial art form Pencak Silat, red.), pretty amazing!!!
The closure was an interruption of our evening meal on the 'night' market, by some religious (and real) officers to leave immeadiatly for evening prayer. This painfully clear showed that there are still many questions of how free this so-seen liberal country really is...
Just arrived in Penang, an old British city (als called George Town), where there is much colonial history to be found. After this I'll head of only-the-lonely again to Thailand. For everybody that has been following the news, I'll stay clear from the dangerous areas and watch my back!!!

Nou, weer mooie verhalen!! En goed dat je oppast voor de gevaarlijke gebieden en op je backpack past, en blijf dat ajb doen, scheet!!
Hier alles ook goed, ben al een beetje over mijn 'jetlag' heen, begin hier wel weer te wennen...

Hee Timmie,
Ik ben ook weer boven water. Heb zojuist een inhaalspurt gedaan door al je verhalen. Had het zoooo druk met afstuderen dat er niks van kwam, zoals ongeveer alles behalve mijn schoolopdrachten. Maar, nog twee vakken en dan eindelijk klaar!! Sinds vorige week eindelijk een beetje uit kunnen rusten, van nachten overslaan en heel veel stress... Maar, krijg mijn diploma in juli en ben aangenomen op de kunstacademie voor de docentenopleiding, die ik vanaf september wil starten in Tilburg. Lekker nog even student zijn dus..
Mooie verhalen weer!! Echt heel gaaf wat je allemaal meemaakt!! Vind je tatoo mooi!! Hoop dat je een leuke verjaardag had, ookal ben ik m vergeten, sorry... Geniet ervan en pas goed op jezelf natuurlijk!! Ga je nu weer volgen hoor.
