Vietnamese loempia's (springrolls) or not???

Sihanoukville:
After a few cultural days in PP, I decided to take a little break in Sihanoukville, the Beach Resort of Cambodia, at least... not quite like the Thai counter part.
I worked on an pre feasibility study in that city while I was on my intershipment during my stduies, so I thought it would be nice checking the place out, for the first time 'live'.
It is a town on the south side of Cambodia with a couple of accesses to the beach which has been some what developed over the last years. For now it has still got some of its 'hippy laid back' character, which probably will end over little time.
Luckily they had television (what a luxiourity!) in my 4 dollar room, which came to good use due to the heavy rain that fell the whole time I was there, so far for my beach get-away!!!
Ho Chi Minh:
After a brief returning to PP I made the cross-over to Vietnam. This country has a more than interesting history. With influences from and wars with the surrounding countries. A french colonial time. The war between north and south (or rather the communists against the capitalists), later interferrence and abandonment by the Americans with all the drama's that followed. So it will be interesting to see all that.
Nowadays Vietnam is doing great (compared to the surrounding countries, like Laos, Cambodia and Burma (Myanmar, red.)) and has a vivid tourism industry... so Gringo trail and dollar prices here we come!!!

PS: funny fact, in Holland the vietnamese are widely known for their loempia's, which I found out is totally not a big thing in the country itself!!!

Hey Timmos,
Not only are the vietnamese loempias a big hit in Good Old Holland, here in the States they are a common and favorite dish as well and for sure called spring rolls. Funny!!!
I wish we could get the real dutch loempias, the big ones here. Maybe a good idea to introduce in cowboy country. What the farmer isn't familiar with, he will SURELY eat it in the States (another nice -verbasterd- dutch expression. 'Red' as you call it). Look at all the BIG people here.

Thanks voor jullie lieve berichtjes!!! Griepje is alweer bijna overwonnen!!! Loop alweer over straat te zwalken, maar zal het even rustig aan doen. Morgen hier de stad verkennen en dan door naar Hanoi. Moet over iets minder dan 3 weken alweer in Bangkok zijn, dus 'de vaart erin'. Hoop dat alles goed gaat bij jullie, we keep in touch, love you!!! -
